Road safety: the motorcycle airbag on sale with the prefecture

In partnership with Casim, the prefecture offers motorcyclists the opportunity to equip themselves with an airbag vest at half price. Order before October 15th.

Even if it is not compulsory, the wearing of an airbag vest is increasingly used by drivers of motorized two-wheelers. Connected to the motorcycle by a cable, the safety vest inflates instantly in the event of a fall, absorbing shocks to the thorax, abdomen, and spine.

By absorbing shocks much more effectively than back or ventral protection, the airbag reduces the risk of impact trauma, as well as internal injuries and injuries, explains the prefecture.

In connection with the Casim 44, an association which offers motorcycle improvement courses focused on their safety, the latter has set up an operation to make the motorcycle airbag accessible to as many people as possible.

Thanks to a partnership with the manufacturer Helite, it offers motorcyclists the opportunity to equip themselves at half price (280 € instead of 550) with a Turtle 2 vest, one of the best-wired airbags (triggered by cable) on the market.

To buy it, bikers can order from Casim until October 15th. The vests will be withdrawn at the prefecture, in the presence of the perfect Didier Martin.

As a reminder, seventeen bikers and mopeds lost their lives in Loire-Atlantique in 2019 and already eight since the start of 2020.
